Chevy Readies the EV Spark
Of course the Spark would one day go electric. Chevy's munchin-sized new gas-powered car doesn't hit dealers until later this year, but the automaker is already preparing an electrified version. The EV car will go on sale sometime in 2013. At this point, Chevy hasn't released any specs like the range, the recharge time, or even the price. Today, we simply got a chance to talk to the engineers who are currently testing the car in Torrance, California.
These so-called development drives are standard practice in the industry. Once a... [Read More]

Chevy Spark EV spotted for first time
In the latter half of 2011 General Motors announced that an electric version of the Chevrolet Spark will be produced and launched during 2013. It has taken a while, but we can now show you the very first pictures of a prototype that was caught while stopping at a car wash.
The Spark EV will be easily distinguishable from its standard counterparts by its restyled front fascia. Changes will include a new grille and redesigned fog-lights as well as a re-modelled rear bumper that no longer requires space for an exhaust pipe.
Power will be... [Read More]

Electric Chevy Spark Tests on Public Roads in Southern California
Many electric car advocates wish that General Motors had simply revived the EV1 rather than producing the elaborate, complex and expensive Chevy Volt. It would have been faster and cheaper to make the EV2. Perhaps the upcoming Chevy Spark EV—GM’s first all-electric car since the EV1—will represent a course correction toward pure electrification (despite the marketing hyperbole from GM about the superiority of the extended-range EV approach). The Spark EV is scheduled to go on sale in 2013.
We know that the... [Read More]

Chevrolet Spark
Overall: After much success overseas, the Spark comes to North American shores to compete in growing compact car segment
Drivetrain: The Spark's 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine won't blow drivers away with its 85 horsepower. But who is buying the Spark for horsepower?
? It doesn't take a genius to understand who General Motors was thinking of when it designed the 2013 Chevrolet Spark mini car, revealed to North American audiences at last fall's Los Angeles International Auto Show.
The sporty... [Read More]

Chevrolet Spark is City-Focused Car, Starting at $14,660
Chevrolet is aiming its minicar, the Spark, at North American city-dwellers, but without much marketing certainty or poise.
“We haven’t set a specific target,” said Cristi Landy, Spark marketing director. “A minicar is new” to the United States. “There are a lot of unknowns here.”
The Spark, which has already been sold in other world markets like Europe, Asia, Australia, South America and Mexico, might find a niche in North America, but it’s hard to look past the slim sales records... [Read More]
